:: BASE ::

The base, similar to the foundation of a home, is crucial for a professional paving job. If the base is done properly, your asphalt will last for years to come. This is where the majority of problems with cracking occur. If there is not enough basestone the asphalt will give way and eventually crack. The amount of basestone will vary from job to job depending on the conditions.

Loose stone or gravel should not be used as a primary base for your paving needs. Loose stone and gravel can move during and after the paving process. This can cause separation and cracking of the asphalt. To avoid this, Bracken Paving uses pugmix as our primary basestone whenever possible. This is a mixture of rock, lime dust and water, which when dried, provides a firm base for asphalt.
