:: ASPHALT ::
The asphalt is applied once the basestone is laid to proper grade. There are three major considerations for laying the asphalt:
- Type of asphalt
- Sufficient compaction
- Proper depth
Two types of asphalt are used:
- Binder is an asphalt that has 3/4" rock and is used for heavier traffic areas or steep grades due to it's strength.
- Topping is a finer mix of asphalt used for light traffic, resurfacing and on top of binder. Topping gives a smoother and tighter surface which resists water penetration, allowing for extended use.
We will look at your situation and help you decide what type of asphalt will be suitable for you.
